Nocturnal Animals

This film is as missable as any movie released in 2016. I’m making an exception for those starring Kevin Hart.

Loving

Sometimes very quiet, ordinary people can change the quality of life in our country that they didn’t expect.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

True to the style of Harry Potter, this film also contains some poignant love stories.

Hacksaw Ridge

Life is full of second chances for nearly everyone. And this film proves that it applies to Mel Gibson.

Arrival

Given the massive praise for this film, with my criticism I felt like the only poor sap who flunked the bar exam after graduating from law school.

Moonlight

Moonlight has a great message, but it is not a great movie.

Doctor Strange

Like the equally semi-tolerable Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad, this is a film whose form transcends substance.

A Man Called Ove

To paraphrase the theme of Mash, suicide may be painless, but it is life that brings on many changes.

American Honey

This film lasted 2 hours and 43 minutes. Enough said.
