No one who sees this film can possibly leave the theater without a smile on your face. Enter at your own risk.
Not as entertaining as last year’s raucous The Man With the Iron Fist, but my 15-year old grandson really liked the film. Enough said.
Remember the song about the kindly “Puff, the magic dragon”? (Peter Paul and Mary (1963)). Smaug certainly doesn’t.
Rating: Katniss Everdeen is a female Robin Hood, so get to the theater and watch the Sheriff of Nottingham’s knees start to buckle.
Rating: This is a gripping story about the consequences of growing old. Bruce Dern is remarkable, but June Squibb should win an Oscar for her role as his put-upon wife, a demonic angel.
Rating: Simply stated, forget the national critics. Without Redford, All Is Lost is a waste of time. Yet, Thor: The Dark World is a rollicking fun time.
Rating: Whatever your feelings are about this film, let me warn you if you are prone to sea sickness. If so, I’d save your popcorn bag after you finish it.
