Commentary on Christmas

I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time saying goodbye to Christmas. In this day and age of hatred and disagreement, it is rewarding to see so many people embrace the holiday season.
I love riding through neighborhoods and looking at the lights that inspire joy. Be it Christmas trees by the window or the many strands of lights hanging from gutters, porches and trees, I feel a warmth penetrating my body.
We put up two trees at our house that have ornaments saved from childhood and various trips. We have a large Christmas village that recreates a tiny world filled with miniature people embracing the fun of the shopping season.
Our families get together at our house on Christmas Eve for dinner and gift exchanges. It’s a warm moment that I treasure.
The light displays have disappeared in most houses by January 10th. However, I can only smile as I pass by on my daily coffee run comforted by the fact that they will all reappear in 10 short months!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone!
