Ex Machina

2015 first brought us Chappie and now Ex Machina. Steven Spielberg would be proud of the descendants of A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001).

Woman in Gold

This is a film that makes most lawyers look bad unless you rely on ineptitude as a strength. On the other hand, maybe that would qualify all of us to be Super Lawyers!

While We’re Young

If turning 44 makes you wish you were young, does being 68 make you wish you were 44?

’71

Though this film has now left the theater here in Indianapolis, I encourage you to make use of antidepressants before watching it at home.

Cinderella

Some fables are worth re-telling.  Cinderella is an adult love story masquerading as entertainment for children.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

The ticket taker told me that this movie functions as a Marvel action film for senior citizens.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

Black or White

This is a film that missed its mark while trying to tackle fundamental racial issues in our society.

McFarland, USA

This is an Hispanic version of Hoosiers (1986). Both are emotionally powerful films filled with total joy.

Fifty Shades of Grey

A perfect weekend for its release. The original victims of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre died more peacefully than the audience.
