Ferrari

It is not hard to imagine why this film died at the box office.

Ferrari

Adam Driver appears in a one-dimensional role as Enzo Ferrari, a one-dimensional man. Taking place in 1957, Ferrari is facing financial collapse as he fights to keep his racing legend alive. His hope is to bet everything on winning the Millie Miglia, a dangerous 1000-mile race across Italy.

And there you have this tedious movie, my friends. In the process you watch Ferrari drift back and forth from the farmhouse where his mistress (Shailene Woodley) and their young son live to his home where a hateful wife (Penelope Cruz) keeps a loaded revolver handy.

Ms. Cruz provides the only entertainment in this regrettable film. Mourning the death of their son, she wrestles with helping to save an empire that she helped build or simply putting a bullet in her husband’s head.

There are a few interesting race scenes that hold your attention but they don’t last long. You are left hoping that Ms. Cruz would satisfy her anger and shoot Ferrari so we could turn off the T.V. and go to bed.
