Trip to Antartica
One of the Greatest Adventures in my life!

Our 17-day trip to Antarctica began with a three-day stay in Buenos Aires. A beautiful city filled with historical significance. A highlight was a tour of a gigantic cemetery filled with hundreds of large stone structures marking the graves of wealthy people. That included Eva Peron.
We then flew to the southern tip of Argentina where we boarded a Seaborne cruise ship for our journey to Antarctica. The trip covered 13 days and Monica and I will never forget the journey.
We stopped at a different location every day; the temperature was generally in the 20’s. We would either hike in deep snow or ride a zodiac through canals and inlets. We were surrounded by snow-covered mountains and large icebergs that made me think of what sunk the Titanic.
But what made this trip so special was our daily interaction with numerous penguins. Hundreds were living in various colonies, and we frequently had a large group walk in line in front of us as they reentered the water. Their extended little wings brought a smile to our faces every day.
The only downside to this magnificent trip was our 2-day trip across the Drake Passage as we returned to Argentina. We cruised through high seas that tossed the boat so violently at times that many people had trouble sleeping. I didn’t, which prevented me from comforting Monica! For some reason she still reminds me of my transgression!
Be prepared if you take this heavenly journey to experience the Penguins’ sarcastic way of saying Goodbye!
Have you and Monica read How the Penguins Saved Veronica?
